Basic Info
Name:Basch fon Ronsenburg
Bio
Character Name; Basch fon Ronsenburg
Series/Fandom; Final Fantasy XII

Age; 36
Gender; Male
Species; Hume (Human in the game's terms)
Sexuality; ... honestly I don't know. Bisexual? Basch doesn't seem like a person would judge a relationship by gender. Not he's worried about being in a relationship.

Appearance; Basch is tall, probably just around six feet tall, with a fighters build. Muscular and strong from many years of swinging a sword in the name of Dalmasca, he is hardly a smooth skinned pretty thing. Though he is in far from lacking good looks. His skin is tanned from living under the harsh sun of Dalmasca, his blond hair probably lightened by its rays. His hair is a bit above shoulder length and almost gives him a look of a surfer dude. Not that there are a surfer dudes in this world. He has blue eyes that are usually full of sorrow, and he ever looks like he's squinting. Who knows if it's from bad eyesight or not. His shoulders and back are marred with many scars from his time in Nalbina, some will fade most will stay as they are rather ugly and deep. There is one that arcs over his left eye and down across his left ear that is rather impressive. And for a man that was in a cage for two years he has some pretty impressive abs, which his outfit shows off quite nicely.

Speaking of his outfit, it's a mishmash of leftovers that he was given to wear. Shoulder armor for his left one, a white cotton sleeveless undershirt with frills on the edges, a red leather vest with belt buckles to wear over that for his top. He wears knee length tan shorts, various armor for his legs over them, and strange boots that lace up all the way up to his knees. He also has a fancy green tassel on his pants as an accessory. A pair of protective gloves are also worn on his hands. Besides that the only part of his outfit that is really his is the pendant around his neck that has the shape of a bird almost. Probably a remnant from his life in Landis.

Personality; Basch is a very calm and quiet individual. He doesn't speak much, rarely speaking his mind. If he is spoken to he'll reply, though that is usually the only time he'll open his mouth. Standing in the background quietly, watching everyone, watching the princess who he so loyally follows. He's much like a dog, an older dog that silently stands beside his owner's legs, waiting for the command to do something. Anything. He doesn't expect anything in return for his silent duty, he merely wishes to protect the young princess of Dalmasca and see her back to her thrown as is rightfully hers. It probably wouldn't be too much to say he'd sacrifice his life for the princess and her country.

After two years of torture and incarceration by his enemy, the Empire, and his brother's hands, he came out seeming rather sound of mind... but it is obvious he had too much time to think while down there. He sees himself as only a tool, an item, that has a usefulness. As long as he can be used and can be useful to those around him and the princess of Dalmasca, then he has purpose. Surviving two years of hell for her, if she were to die, it would be as if he no longer had a reason to exist.

Basch also carries a lot of guilt with him. For fleeing his homeland and failing to protect it when he was but a young boy, probably around his early teenage years, and losing his family, all but his twin brother. He ran to Dalmasca, while his brother fled to the ones who'd destroyed their homeland. He then adds more guilt to this by failing to protect his princess' newly wed husband in battle, bringing his lifeless body back to her after fleeing the lost battle. Then one more time, as him and his comrades marched to protect their king during the false treaty signing that lead to the king's death. Failure to save him, and then framed as his murderer. The guilt was too much, before he was then informed while that the princess had taken her own life, a lie, in her grief.

It was his only little hope for living when he heard word of a resistance leader named Amalia... he knew the meaning of that name. It was the princess' false name, used in times like this. He had one last chance to make up for all his failure, and so being the broken and shamed man that he was, he took that chance when he was freed from prisons clutches. So now, much like a dog, he loyally stays beside the princess, hoping his past record of failing does not follow him about this time.

Abilities/Strengths; Basch is a power house, he's very strong and can take a good beating, but is not quite as quick to attack. He mostly uses swords, but is also very well versed with a bow. Which evens him out a bit. He also can cast magicks, healing and protective, along with summon monsters called Espers. Along with that he has three powerful attacks that he can use, more like a mix of physical power and magic put together. They are called, Fulminating Darkness, Ruin Impendent, and Flame Purge.

Weaknesses; Slower to attack than some, he makes up for it in strength and defense. Is extremely selfless, to the point it is probably bad for him. He lived through two years of torture and pain for one person, the reason he still draws breath. He also has an inferiority complex, stemming from his failure to protect many things in his life, though most of it not his fault he feels he should have been able to do better. So he drives himself hard to make up for it, ever acting as if he is nothing more than a being to be used as needed to accomplish things.

Notable Possessions; A few healing potions, his sword, his necklace that he always wears... um... I think that's it? Clothes of course. AND HIS MAGICAL ABS OF NOM WORTHINESS ♥

History; Basch was born in the Republic of Landis, but after it's downfall in war he ended up in Dalmasca. Joining the Order of the Knights of Dalmasca, he rose in the ranks to become a Captain, along side Vossler York Azelas, and using his strength and great combat skills protected Dalmasca with all his being. He was different being of common blood, much unlike many of the Captains, and was renown for being a brave and gallant knight, winning many battles.

After bringing word of the fall of Nabudis, an alley country, he went off to protect another alley in trouble, the new husband to his kingdom's princess, Prince Rasler following in his footsteps. Needless to say things did not fair well, and try as Basch might, he did not come back to Dalmasca with good tidings. Nalbina was taken over, and he returned, a slain Prince Rasler slung over his chocobo.

Not long after Captain Azelas and him were charged with protecting their king, who was at a treaty signing, and most likely a trap. In the end, Basch slew their king... or so it seemed, his twin brother's face used to frame him. Set up by the Empire, he was dragged away, his name dragged through the mud and supposedly put to death for his crimes. So why is man dead man still alive? Two years of rotting in Nalbina's dungeon, tortured and beaten, in hopes of telling his captors, the Judges of the Empire, any details they would wish to know about the land of Dalmasca they had conquered. Steadfast, Basch never gave in.

By mere luck and perhaps the will of the Fates, Basch is freed, accidentally, by two sky-pirates. A Balthier and Fran, along with a wannabe thief that got caught up with them, named Vaan. Now free of his cage he can at last have his second chance to protect Dalmasca.
